INDUSTRY DAY INFORMATION
We will attempt to answer your questions in real time Answers in real time are NOT official responses and are subject to change Official responses will be posted with the RFI It is your responsibility to check the RFI posting (https://go.usa.gov/xvmvY) for periodic updates All questions must be received by May 19 Capability statement responses are due on June 9 at 4:00 p.m. PDT
ABOUT NASA FLIGHT OPPORTUNITIES
Mission is to facilitate rapid demonstration of promising technologies through suborbital testing with industry flight providers..
..to mature capabilities needed for NASA missions and commercial applications These demonstrations take technologies from ground-based laboratories into relevant environments to increase technology readiness and validate feasibility while reducing the costs and technical risks of future missions
BASIC RFI INFORMATION
Technical requirements are notional and subject to change We want to know what you can provide: what are your capabilities?
We may use your responses to develop the Request For Proposal (RFP) for the contract requirements Likely to be a multiple award contract (e.g. more than one entity on contract) Likely to be 5 yr. (no options), Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract Timing for RFP release is TBD – RFI may or may not result in an RFP
REQUIREMENT INFORMATION
Atmospheric aircraft (e.g. “vomit comet”) Carry experiments of varying sizes and types Fly multiple parabolas to achieve periods of reduced and hyper gravity Quantity of parabolas is dependent on platform used and nature of experiments Fly within CONUS In some cases, support human-tended experiments Typical flight year involves 2 campaigns of 4 days each, 4 flights per campaign, 2.5-4 hr. flight duration – this will vary with aircraft type and nature of experiments May have from 1 to 10 experiments per flight (depending upon aircraft capacity) Detailed RFI requirements can be found at https://go.usa.gov/xvmvC Refer to the MFS RFI posting at https://go.usa.gov/xvmvY for further details
REPRESENTATIVE PARABOLA
Transport Class Aircraft – other aircraft types will vary
LIKELY REQUIREMENTS
Must have proven capability to provide minimum requirements (at least one microgravity profile) Must be US domestic entity If carrying human flight participants, must comply with NASA Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) requirements (e.g. FAA certificated aircraft) Will NOT be operating under “Public Use” model
