Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

1. Statement of Need and Purpose: The purpose of this acquisition is to purchase a Prism Group Academic Yearly Subscription, 300 activations for National Institute on Aging (NIA)/Intramural Research Program (IRP).

2. Background Information and Objective: The Computational Biology and Genomics Core (CBGC) requires a comprehensive, powerful, and easy to use statistical and graphing software license subscription for the National Institute on Aging (NIA)/Intramural Research Program (IRP). Most research scientists at NIA-IRP need an easy to use statistical and graphing software that has the inter-operability with Microsoft Excel. Prism has a very familiar interface like MS Excel and is specifically formatted for the analyses an experimental scientist. Purchasing this software license for the whole institute will help most of the experimental scientists in the institute and will save cost over buying the licenses individually. NIA-IRP has been using this software since 2006.

For the last 4-5 years, the CBGC purchased this software in a smaller number of seats (100 seats in FY20, 125 seats in FY21, 250 seats in FY22, 250 seats in FY23). This software has become extremely popular with almost all scientists and this year CBGC needs to buy 300 seats.
