About this file
This document is a solicitation for SomaScan 11K kits for plasma (or equal) issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging (NIA).
The NIA requires 10 kits that can measure up to 11,000 proteins using only 55 mL of plasma, with high multiplexing and data quality. The kits must be compatible with the TECAN Fluent 780 automation system. This is a Brand Name or Equal requirement for the SomaScan kits. The anticipated award is a firm fixed-price purchase order with a 30-day delivery after receipt of order. Responses must be received by 9:00 a.m. on July 16, 2024 and should include pricing, delivery, past performance, and information demonstrating the product meets the required salient characteristics. There are no set-aside restrictions, and the solicitation incorporates various FAR clauses by reference.

Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose: SomaScan 11K kits are able to achieve a high level of multiplexing while maintaining exceptional data quality thanks to their aptamer technology that measures up to 11,000 proteins using only 55 μL of serum, plasma, and can be applied to other type of biological samples. The SomaScan Assay is a highly multiplexed, aptamer-based proteomic platform. SOMAmer reagents, the protein-specific binding reagents are selected via the SELEX process by their ability to strongly bind to a protein target. Reproducibility and stability of the SomaScan Assay is regularly tested to maintain consistency over time and from assay to assay
2. Background Information and Objective: The Translational Gerontology Branch (TGB) as well as other laboratories in the Intramural Research Program (IRP) requires the use of the SomaScan platform for ongoing and developing projects that include in depth proteomics analysis of human plasma samples, skeletal muscle biopsies and sorted white blood cell populations. This will also give The National Institute on Aging (NIA) a unique opportunity to run in depth screening that are critical for normal biological system operation.
3. Generic Name of Product: Assay for analysis up to 11,000 proteins simultaneously using 55 μLof plasma
