About this file

This document is a Question and Answer file for a rigging services solicitation (75N94026Q00027) issued by the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The solicitation involves relocating multiple optical tables and a TMC table within a single building, with key logistical details still to be determined by the service provider. Specific challenges include narrow corridors, unknown exact table weights (estimated around 1000 lbs each), and movement between floors using a freight elevator capable of accommodating tables up to 8 feet long.

The solicitation timeline has been amended multiple times, with the submission deadline extended from 1/12 to 1/16, and no building walk-throughs will be offered due to time constraints. Prospective contractors are expected to develop their own solutions for table transportation, including assessing potential floor protection needs, determining optimal travel paths, and confirming equipment can be moved without disassembly. The precise period of performance will be determined at the time of award, and the agency notes that some questions submitted after 11:00 AM on 1/9 may not receive responses.

Text version

· Are make and model numbers available for each optical table and the TMC table so we can confirm weights and handling requirements?

Unfortunately 3 tables are old (inherited) and 1 table is a special order, so no model numbers available.

· Are there any known obstacles along the travel path such as narrow corridors, door restrictions, turns, ramps, or floor loading concerns that could impact the move?

Corridors are narrow however equipment should fit. The service provider will need to visit the site to determine the best route for them.

· Is there an elevator we can use? If so, what are the dimensions? If not, are there steps and how many flights are there from one floor to another in regard to the TMC table?

Yes, there is a freight elevator that can fit an optical table that is up to 8 ft long

· What are the weights of all of the pieces ?

About 1000 lb each as a rough estimates. Exact weight unknown.

· How far in feet is the storage room to the designated lab locations?

Unknown

· Will we need to provide special protection for the floors?

This may be deemed required by the service provider if they feel it’s necessary

· The planned path of travel and any known constraints (door widths, hallway widths, turns, thresholds, and elevator access/capacity), including confirmation that the tables can be moved through all required doors without disassembly.

We don’t have any planned path of travel and we don’t know all the constraints. It is expected that the service provider will come up with a solution.
