About this file

This document is a Statement of Need (SON) for NanoString CosMx Spatial gene expression library preparation kits (6K). The National Cancer Institute (NCI) requires these reagents to continue research on tumor heterogeneity and evolution at the Cancer Data Science Laboratory. The SON specifies the required items, including RNA extraction and imaging kits, and the CosMx SMI flow cell and imaging trays. Delivery is required within 30 calendar days of the purchase order award, with shipment to the NCI in Bethesda, MD. The purchase order will be a Firm Fixed-Price arrangement, and the vendor must provide a 90-day warranty ensuring conformity to specifications. Inspection and acceptance will be performed by the designated Technical Point of Contact. This SON is related to a Sources Sought Notice (SSN) under Solicitation Number 75N91024Q00139, which is for information and planning purposes only, with no solicitation available at this time. The requirement's suggested NAICS code is 325413 (In Vitro Diagnostic Substance Manufacturing).

STATEMENT OF NEED (SON)

1.0 TITLE

Brand Name NanoString CosMx Spatial gene expression library preparation kits (6K)

2.0 BACKGROUND

The Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research’s (CCR), Spatial Tumor Biology Section of the Cancer Data Science Laboratory (CDSL) focuses on tumor heterogeneity and tumor evolution with the goal of improving early detection and therapeutics for liver cancer. It is well known that cellular functions are closely related to the spatial context of the cells. Thus, resolving the spatial information of tumor cells and immune cells would be critical to understand tumor heterogeneity and tumor evolution. The CDSL to date has used NanoString’s CosMx SMI platform for the assessment of spatial information of tumors due to its ability to profile the expression of ~6,000 genes with an additional layer of spatial information. To continue these research efforts and to ensure scientific comparability of research results, the CDSL requires additional CosMx SMI platform reagents.
