STATEMENT OF NEED (SON)
TITLE
Purchase of One (1) Advanced Solutions Life Sciences BioAssemblyBOT 200 Cell DIVE Automation Workstation
BACKGROUND
The Thoracic and GI Malignancies Branch (TGMB), National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, conducts research in the treatment of lung cancer, a disease with a very low response and survival rate. The discovery of new therapeutic targets and more effective immunotherapies requires an extraordinary deep understanding of complex interactions in the tumor microenvironment.
Traditional investigation methods, such as flow cytometry and low-plex histology, lack the ability to measure cells, mediators, and the microbiota simultaneously while also collecting critical spatial information.
To deepen the investigations of these complex interactions, TGMB requires the upgrade of a hyperplexed immunofluorescence imager, Cell DIVE (Leica Microsystems Inc.), with a BioAssemblyBOT 200 Cell DIVE automation workstation (Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC). This robotic component will significantly increase experimental efficiency and accuracy in staining procedures. In addition, the bioprinting capabilities of this component will enable TGMB to create disease models for drug discovery.
