DESCRIPTION

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) Systems Biology Unit, in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) has a requirement for a brand name or equal Fluxion Bioflux 200 Microfluidic Device System.

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, prepared in accordance with format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice, and shall be processed in accordance with FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation, 75N91020Q00146, is issued as a request for quote (RFQ) and includes all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAR Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2020-08 (08-13-2020) Simplified Acquisition Procedures for commercial items.

The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 1,000 employees.

Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price purchase order.

1.0 BRAND NAME OR EQUAL

This requirement is for the procurement of a brand name or equal Fluxion Bioflux 200 Microfluidic Device System. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) provision FAR 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal (AUG 1999) is applicable to this requirement.

1.0 SCOPE

The Systems Biology Unit, in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), within the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) requires a new, commercially available pneumatic pump system that allows cells to be studied under laminar flow in well-based microfluidic devices, in tightly controlled conditions. A microfluidic device system is useful in particular for studying cellular interactions and will be used in the lab to study the interactions between bacterial species in specialized multicellular structures called biofilms. The system will mimic conditions that exist in numerous infections, allowing for the study of genes and pathways that affect microbial interactions under physiological conditions.

Environmental conditions like temperature, shear force, and oxygen availability will be changed in these assays to study their effect on the interactions being studied.

The purpose of this requirement is to procure a commercially available brand name or equal Fluxion Bioflux 200 Microfluidic Device System in support of the Systems Biology Unit, in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), within the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) at the National Cancer Institute.

The microfluidic device system shall be used for studying cellular interactions using a pneumatic pump system that allows cells to be studied under laminar flow in tightly controlled conditions.

2.0 TYPE OF ORDER

This will be issued as a severable, Firm Fixed-Price Purchase Order.
