DESCRIPTION
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Experimental Immunology Branch (EIB) within the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) has a requirement for a procurement of a brand name or equal Autogen AG Tissue Extractor DNA Isolation Machine.
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, prepared in accordance with format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice, and shall be processed in accordance with FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation, 75N91020Q00030, is issued as a request for quote (RFQ) and includes all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAR Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2020-06 (05-06-2020) Simplified Acquisition Procedures for commercial items.
The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 1,000 employees.
Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price purchase order.
1.0 BRAND NAME OR EQUAL
This requirement is for the procurement of a brand name or equal Autogen AG Tissue Extractor DNA Isolation Machine. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) provision FAR 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal (AUG 1999) is applicable to this requirement.
1.0 SCOPE
The Experimental Immunology Branch (EIB) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) is comprised of more than 50 research scientists. Their immunological studies focus on treating human immune-deficient diseases using mouse models. To support their research, the lab generates approximately 1,000 newborn mice per week for DNA genotyping. Accommodating this mouse population size requires the lab to process more than 400 samples/day. The DNA Isolation Machine currently used by the lab has reached the end of its useful lifecycle and is being decommissioned. EIB requires a new, commercially available DNA Isolation Machine to process tissue samples for genotyping.
The purpose of this requirement is to procure a new, commercially available DNA Isolation Machine in support of the Experimental Immunology Branch at the National Cancer Institute. DNA Isolation Machines automate the process for genotyping tissue samples, which saves time for scientists and facilitates research.
2.0 TYPE OF ORDER
This will be issued as a Firm Fixed-Price Purchase Order.
