About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a federal contract opportunity for online education services at Unity Healing Center, a sixteen-bed adolescent Youth Residential Treatment Center in Cherokee, North Carolina. The Q&A addresses critical details about the online education requirements, including instructor availability (online platform accessible 24/7, instructors available 8-3:30 ET weekdays), curriculum expectations (customizable, blended learning approach, NC-accredited), and implementation timeline (start date of 10/01 for implementation).
Key additional details include specific clarifications about the educational program: teachers must have national accreditation, the curriculum should be adaptable to individual student needs, and the program will support students with varying grade levels. The online education solution is not for homeless or charter school students, and classes will vary in frequency (1-2 classes some days, potentially zero on others). An existing platform is currently in use, and the program is designed to provide consistent educational access for adolescent youth from various states and tribal nations, with flexibility to accommodate individual learning paces.

Text version
o This is for 24/7, so do we provide live teachers at 3am in the morning for several hours? Are classes shifted thru out the day and what is typical?
Answer: The online portion should be available for access 24/7 and the instructor should be available 8-3:30 Et weekdays when needed.
o There is a homeless charter; would we assume they are at 6th grade level without preparation?
Answer: The residents are not homeless or in charter schools. Grade levels are different by student.
o How many classes would be taught at given intervals at any time in the day?
Answer: This is for electives and or subjects the onsite teacher does not cover. Somedays there may be 1-2 and somedays there may be zero.
o Do teachers have to be licensed in NC or are there reciprocal agreements in other states?
Answer: The current onsite teacher is licensed in NC and the online portion would require national accreditation.
o Can we supply the teachers and Unity provide the accreditation or does our company require a National Accreditation?
Answer: National Accreditation.
o Is there an implementation/onboarding period post award? Does that start on 10/1 or prior to 10/1?
Answer: 10/01 o What date should the learning start for the students?
Answer: That could be anytime actually. They have education even in the summer.
o Will the Curriculum require customization, or is an off-the-shelf solution acceptable?
Answer: Customizable only as far as what the resident needs to work
on. I'd say, off the shelf could work if it's accredited in NC, as long as there are online teachers available. It should be blended, not just software.
o Is there an incumbent?
Not for this requirement.
o If so, what is their name, the contract number, the period of performance, and the contract value?
N/A o Is there an existing platform currently being use, or is this a new implementation?
Yes.
