About this file
This document is an Amendment (No. 1) to a Request for Quote (RFQ) 75H70325R00002 issued by the California Area Indian Health Service for a new contract to purchase and install network equipment. The amendment extends the solicitation response due date to May 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM PST and provides clarifications through a Q&A document addressing technical specifications for a Cisco Catalyst 9300 network switch replacement.
Key technical details include the government's requirement for a replacement switch that supports 144 x 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports and 24 x 1Gbps SFP fiber ports, using existing SFP transceivers. The switch will be a Catalyst 9300-24S with DNA Advantage licensing (3-year term), configured as a switch stack without a supervisor card. The contract is for new equipment installation at the Desert Sage Youth Wellness Center in Hemet, California, with no replacement of existing fiber patch cables or transceivers.

1. Question:
Is this a brand new contract or is (was) an incumbent performing these services? If not brand new, could you please provide the current/previous contract number?
Answer:
This is a new contract to install new equipment. The only service provided by this contract is to install new equipment.
2. Question:
Could you please confirm whether it is the Government’s intention for the replacement switches to support all existing ports (i.e., 144 x 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports and 24 x 1Gbps SFP fiber ports), or only the ports currently in use (i.e., 144 x 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet and 6 x 1Gbps SFP fiber ports)?
Answer:
The Government intends the replacement switch will support all existing ports, same as current switch:
(i.e., 144 x 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports and 24 x 1Gbps SFP fiber ports),
3. Question:
Is the Government requesting new SFP transceivers and fiber patch cables for the 1000BaseSX fiber connections as part of this installation?
Answer:
The Government is not requesting replacement fiber patch cables.
The existing 6500 chassis has a single fiber linecard in slot 4. WS-X6824-SFP CEF720 That uses 1G SFPs and currently those are all “SX” / multimode The SFPs I see in use now are: GLC-SX-MMD
4. Question:
The “Scope” section in the RFP calls for a supervisor card, the Catalyst 9300 will be a switch stack, not modular chassis and a supervisor card will not be needed. Can you confirm?
Answer:
Confirmed, NO supervisor needed.
5. Question:
The BOM specifies 1yr DNA licensing and the minimum term per Cisco is a 3yr DNA license. Is this acceptable?
Yes, 3yr DNA license is acceptable.
6. Question:
This configuration does not include network modules (i.e., 1Gb Fiber SX uplinks). Can you confirm this is correct?
On the current switch are connected using Multi Mode fiber/SFPs on blade 4 of the chassis. While you *could* connect the switches in the same manner to a new 9300- 24port fiber switch in this new replacement stack, a much better way would be to use Network Interface Modules (NIM) on switches 1 and 2 that provide 1G/10G SFP ports.
7. Question:
This configuration does not include SFP transceivers. Can you confirm this is correct?
Correct, NO new transceivers needed as the existing ones will be re-used.
8. Question:
For the C9300-24S (24port modular switch), can you specify Essentials or Advantage licensing?
DNA Advantage.
