About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file associated with a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Nursing Assistant I position.

The document addresses two clarifications regarding the position and its duties. First, the contracting officer confirms that the RFQ is specifically for a Nursing Assistant I role, not a Medical Assistant or Medical Support Assistant position, and notes that Nursing Assistant duties differ from secretarial support roles. Key responsibilities include obtaining patient intake and chief complaints, recording height and weight measurements, obtaining basic vital signs, setting up examination rooms for women's exams, physicals, and other procedures, and performing autoclave and sterilization of medical instruments. The contracting officer distinguishes that Medical Support Assistant is a secretary position and is not equivalent to private sector Medical Assistant roles. Second, regarding autoclave and sterilization of medical instruments along with inventory management and restocking of medical supplies, the contracting officer clarifies that these duties are not mandatory requirements for applicants but may be taught on the job, though prior experience in these areas is preferred due to the operational need to fill these duties when a new employee begins.
