DATE: September 21, 2022

PROJECT: 751/22023.TAP Donken Tapiola North End Bridge Replacement

OWNER: MI DTMB

BID DATE: Wednesday, September 28, 2022 **THIS ADDENDUM DOES NOT CHANGE THE BID

DATE**

The following shall be incorporated into the Contract Documents dated 10 AUG 2022.

PROJECT MANUAL

BID SUMMARY / BID SCHEDULE:

Revised and reissued the bid forms to depict the correct bid date, project/file number, and Riprap.

SECTION 31 20 00 – EARTH MOVING:

Revised and reissued the specification to change the Riprap from Plain to Special Class II (as defined by MDOT in a special provision). The Riprap, Special, Class II is described in Section 2.1.K and details for installation were added in section 3.17.

SECTION 33 41 00 – STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING:

Add item C to Section 3.3 CULVERT DESIGN as follows:

C. During excavation, if the soft clay is encountered that is shown on soil boring B-2 about 12’ below grade, you can expect the clay will have a bearing capacity of approximately 500 psf. This bearing capacity has the potential to be increased to about 1500 psf by tamping in and installing a bedding of AASHTO #1 stone into the top of the clay.

1. In a case of encountering clay, if the 4-sided culvert is used as shown on the plans, the bedding shown on the plans will be revised by the Engineer in a bulletin to accommodate for the lower bearing capacity.

2. In a case of encountering clay, if the 3-sided culvert is elected to be used by the contractor, the engineer of record for the foundations will need to ensure their foundation design accounts for this bearing capacity.

APPENDIX V – PERMITS:

Added MDOT and EGLE permits that have been issued for the project.

DRAWINGS

Sheet 5 of 8 - PROPOSED PLAN:

Revised and reissued the sheet to change the Riprap, Plain to Riprap, Special, Class II. Also slightly adjusted the limits of the Riprap.
