I . An extension of the end date of the project from the end of FY 202 1 to the end of FY 2022.

2. An increase the Life of Project funds from $40 million to $45 million

3. A name change from LUWSSI to Afghan Urban Water and Sanitation

This corresponds to a need to extend the project until the end of FY2022. USAID also increased the life of project funding because of anticipated increases in available funding.

1.2. Activity Description

Afghan Urban Water and Sanitation will help the Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Corporation (AUWSSC) improve and expand the sustainable provision of urban water supply. It will work with AUWSSC staff to better manage AUWSSC as a business, moving towards full cost recovery. Afghan Urban Water and Sanitation areas of focus will specifically include Training, Technical Assistance, Capital Infrastructure and Operation and Maintenance Improvements and Communication and Outreach. There are no changes in the activities. For a complete activity description and recommend threshold decisions, as well as templates for environmental and climate risk management documentation, refer to LUWSSI IEE Amendment 11
