Text version
Managing Director, Technology The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is soliciting candidates for the position of Managing Director, Technology.
DFC is a new U.S. Government agency that combines and modernizes the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and USAID’s Development Credit Authority (DCA).
Equipped with a more than doubled investment cap of $60 billion and new financial tools, DFC has more resources to mobilize private sector capital to address development challenges and advance U.S. foreign policy in priority regions and sectors.
The Managing Director would be responsible for:
• formulating DFC strategy in advanced technology and critical technology infrastructure (e.g., 5G, telecommunications, AI, etc.);
• working in close coordination with U.S. foreign policy and national security stakeholders (e.g., the State Department, National Security Council, intelligence community, etc.) to develop investment targets and policy goals in these areas; and
• actively engaging with the private sector and their DFC deal team to structure and execute developmentally-focused transactions in these areas across DFC’s product lines, including debt finance, political risk insurance, investment funds and direct equity investments.
In this position, the Managing Director will interface with key actors in the U.S. national security structure to help set policies and priorities in the technology space, and then work closely with the private investment community and their DFC deal teams to source and execute developmentally-focused investments that advance those policies and priorities.
The ideal candidate would have a deep understanding of the technology itself, as well as at least five to ten years working with a technology company or in the technology sector in a leading investment bank, private equity fund or venture capital fund. The position would be based in Washington, D.C., and would require the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
