Text version

The CGD-A Boating Safety program (dpi-rbs) provides boating safety education opportunities for the public by supporting the Kids Don’t Float curriculum. A robust internal train-the-trainer program prepares active duty and Auxiliary members to deliver KDF classes throughout Alaska. In support of the boating safety outreach efforts, training kits are provided to instructors that include a variety of life jacket types, a throw bag, e-signals and a large pack raft for in-water training events. The pack raft needs to be large enough to accommodate 4-6 people (in a training environment) and compact enough to fit into a single gear bag (with additional equipment) for transport. Minimum dimensions should be:

Interior Width: Size range 16”-18” Interior Length: 65”-70” Weight: No more than 15 lb.

Packed size: Maximum of 22” x 12” Capacity: Approx. 500# Construction should be commercial grade with coated nylon hull 420 denier and 840d nylon floor. Self-bailing is preferred. Various colors are acceptable.
