SUMMARY OF WORK

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS

1.1.1 Project Description

The work to be performed under this project consists of providing all labor, equipment, and materials to perform maintenance dredging of the channel at U.S. Coast Guard Station Jones Beach, NY. Dredging by hydraulic means is allowable. Immediate placement of the dredge material will be in the temporary, purpose built Confined Dewatering Facility (CDF), located west, adjacent to the Jones Beach Station parking lot, as shown on the Contract Documents prepared by US Army Corps of Engineers, New York District. Contractor shall be responsible for all construction of and final removal of the CDF. After the dredge spoil material is dewatered, according to the standards in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Water Quality Certificate (WQC), it will be trucked for final disposal to the 110 Sand Company, 136 Spagnoli Road, Melville, NY 11747 - as specified in the WQC and permits.

Contractor must comply with all the requirements of the NYSDEC permit and the Army Corps permit. These permits are included in Appendix A.

The maintenance dredging consists of an estimated approximately 6,875 cubic yards (CY) of dredge material to the required dredging depth of -8 feet below Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 1 foot of allowable overdredge.

Upon removal of all dewatered dredge material, the Confined Dewatering Facility will be dismantled and the site returned to its former condition.

1.1.2 Location

The work is located at Coast Guard Station Jones Beach, 1 West End Boat Basin, Freeport, NY 11520
