BRAND NAME – Items peculiar to one manufacturer: The particular brand name, product, or feature is essential to the Government’s requirements, and market research indicates other companies’ similar products, or products lacking the particular feature, do not meet, or cannot be modified to meet, the agency’s needs.

RATIONALE FOR JUSTIFICATION

The technical data for the Filter Cart required to make an accurate assessment of equal or alternate equipment meeting the Coast Guard’s performance, fit, form and function requirements for this procurement is unavailable. Any attempt to manufacture this item without the proper Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts and access to OEM reproduction manufacturing drawings, spec, tolerances/parameters, test procedures and other relevant information, could lead to major mission degradation.

This is a proprietary commercial item of the proposed contractor. The reproduction of manufacturing drawings, specifications and other technical data related to this item were never purchased by the U.S. Coast Guard and therefore are controlled by and remain the sole property of the OEM.
