Question 1: WORK ITEM 1: General Welding, Provide
Soft patches are made from thin metal that allows water intrusion and warping. (recommend renew soft patches with stronger metal)
MAIN DECK Fabricate and
Renew (02) Soft
Patches.
Something sturdier than the current ones.
QUESTION: Just a thought, but for a company that has removed these several times before, why not go with a single soft patch such as the style of the 47MLB except just one?
But, by going with a single patch, the deck flange needs to be increased to at least ¼if not 3/8 thickness and the deck material of the soft patch to at least 3/16, utilizing 5086 aluminum with appropriate framing so to also house appropriate insulation as well. The thing to make sure of though is the opening does not get any smaller than what it is.
APM Response: For the time being, we are going to stick with the 02 Soft Patches to match the other 52’s. Little far in the process to get authorization from Engineering to change the configuration.
