About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document addressing contractor inquiries regarding a boiler removal and installation project.
The document clarifies two key operational matters for the contractor performing the work. First, regarding equipment access, the contractor cannot use the unit's forklift for boiler removal and installation due to dimensional constraints—the forklift mast will not fit through the door threshold. The contractor must provide their own equipment to accomplish both removal and installation tasks. Second, concerning electrical safety procedures, the unit's Maintenance personnel (MKs) or Engineering personnel (EMs) will conduct all required lockout/tagout of electrical components during the construction phase, relieving the contractor of this responsibility. These clarifications establish the division of labor and equipment responsibilities between the contractor and the facility unit during the boiler replacement project.

Q&A
1. Forklift use, will the contractor be able to use the unit’s forklift to remove the existing boiler and install the new boiler? After taking measurements of the door threshold, it was determined that the mast on the base forklift would not fit through the door threshold. It is advised that the contractor would have to use their own equipment for removal and installation.
2. Will the unit provide the lock out/tag out of all electrical components that are required during the removal and installation? The unit MK’s or EM’s will conduct the lock out/tag out during the construction.
