QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

U. S. COAST GUARD SMTC LINEN SERVICES

REQUEST FOR QUOTE: 70Z02320QQWD05600

1. Are the training days consecutive (i.e. 5 days per wk, for X number of weeks) Answer: Students stay in the barracks 7 days per week. Typically students will report in to the barracks on a Sunday and stay there until they graduate from training. Their length of time in the barracks is dependent on the course they are attending. Some of our courses are only a week long while others have a duration of over a month.

2. How many weeks does the 83 range dates translate to?

Answer: The statement “At the time of award, the USCG intends to have 83 range training days during the period of performance. ***Please note USCG SMTC chooses to exercise any optional quantity modifications, such modifications will be issued unilaterally to the contractor.***” was accidentally left in the Statement of Objective from a template that was used to create the Statement of Objective.

3. Will laundry services still be needed during the weeks when training is not in session?

Answer: Yes. SMTC typically only has two brief periods throughout the year when there are no training courses: a week in July and a couple weeks in December. Even when there are no training courses taking place, laundry service will still be needed so the linens cleaned from the previous week can be dropped off. Even when there are no training courses taking place, there may still be a small amount of people staying in the barracks (such as duty watchstanders).

4. How many pounds per week of linens are to be processed?

Answer: 200 pounds to 400 pounds per week.

5. How many pieces of each item is to be processed each week?

Answer: A total of 7 pieces of linen are issued to each person staying in the barracks: (1) mattress cover, (1) fitted sheet, (1) flat sheet, (1) pillow case, (1) microfiber blanket, (1) comforter, (1) bath towel/mat. There are 89 rooms with 3 beds per room. (89 rooms x3 beds = 267 beds/1,869 maximum amount of pieces to wash each week); the amount of linens that need to be processed each week will vary based on the amount of members that are in the barracks each week.

6. Are technically acceptable and responsible offers being considered by companies out of state?

Answer: Yes, but the vendor must be willing to use the linens that our unit provides and ensure that only our linens are returned to us each week.

7. Is this a new requirement or have services been performed in the past?

Answer: No, this is not a new requirement. These services have been performed for us in the past. Current vendor is A1 Cleaners Incorporated contract
