About this file

This document contains Vendor Questions and Responses related to a federal contract opportunity for ID Badging Printers and Laminators. The key details are:

The U.S. Secret Service has a requirement for 2 Matica XID8600 dual-sided ID card printers and 7 Matica ILM-DS dual-side lamination modules. The agency currently has 6 printers and 1 laminator. Vendors asked questions about bundling lamination modules, confirming the exact model numbers, and whether "EDIsecure" branded products that meet the specifications are acceptable (they are). The agency confirmed all products must be new. The anticipated delivery date is November 25, 2024, and the Government intends to award a purchase order from this solicitation which is unrestricted.

VENDOR QUESTIONS

1. Bundling of Lamination Modules: I was informed by a supplier that it is possible to bundle two Matica ILM-DS Dual Side Lamination Modules directly installed with the Matica XID8600 Dual-Sided Retransfer ID Card Printers. Would it be acceptable to provide two lamination modules pre-installed on the printers, or does the U.S. Secret Service prefer these modules as separate units?

ANSWER: This is acceptable

2. Quantity Clarification: The requirement specifies two Matica XID8600 printers and seven Matica ILM-DS Dual Side Lamination Modules. Could you confirm if the agency already has five other compatible printers, or if there is a specific operational need for standalone lamination modules?

ANSWSER: We currently have 6 Printers and 1 Laminator.

3. Product Branding (EDIsecure): Some suppliers have XID8600 printers and ILM-DS Dual Side Lamination Modules with the EDIsecure branding. This branding is an earlier naming convention from Matica Technologies but represents the same model specifications as those currently labeled “Matica.” Importantly, the ILM-DS Dual Side Lamination Module now marketed for the XID8600 carries the same SKU as the module initially marketed for the XID8300 printer. Could you confirm if items labeled with “EDIsecure” in the model name are acceptable, provided they meet the required specifications?

ANSWER: We do not care about the branding so long the model is the same and is compatible with “Matica” branded printers.

4. Condition of Products: It is assumed, but please confirm, that all products must be in brand new condition for this solicitation.

ANSWER: New

5. To ensure we provide the correct equipment that meets all specifications, could you please confirm if model numbers are available for the requested printer and laminator units? This information would be invaluable in accurately aligning our response with the project’s technical requirements.

ANSWER: Matica XID 8600 and Matica ILM-DS (Dual Sided Laminator)

6. For the two Matica XID8600 dual sided printers should I include the lamination module on them, or are they not required?

ANSWER: The requirement is for 2 printers and 7 laminators.
