Questions & Answers for Request for Information (RFI)-Radioisotope Detection & Identification Devices (RIIDs)

1. Is this a new requirement or is there an incumbent contract/contractor currently performing the same or similar work? If so, are you able to provide the contract number and vendor’s name?

A: This is a new requirement.

2. Is there any chance a 1-week extension might be granted?

A: See revised RFI for revised response due date.

3. The RFI states that the desired energy resolution should not be better than 6.5%. Is this requirement because it is believed that better performance will be cost prohibitive or is there a conops reason for not having better performance?

A: Both cost and CONOPs factor into the decision to request performance at the specified level.

4. We would like to provide information on two products. Would it be preferable to have two separate submissions?

A: Either submission method is acceptable (one for each response, or one for both responses).

5. SL-17: The description states the device shall be ‘medium resolution’. This term is usually used to define a system that has a gamma resolution of between 3 and 5%.

However, the threshold column defines a ‘low resolution’ system between 6.5 to 8%.

Could you clarify the discrepancy please?

A: The threshold can be defined as 8%, and the objective as 6.5%.

6. SL-17: The Clarification column states that ‘lower resolution offerings shall not be considered’. Could you define what is being referred to here by the term ‘lower’?

A: Less than 6.5% (i.e., between 0-6.4%)

7. SL-60: A smartphone app for logging and storing data is described. Is this an app that the vendor is expected to create, or is it expected that the RIID will interface to the pre-existing STC app?

A: It is expected that the RIID will interface with the existing STC app.

8. SL-68: This point describes the STC app. Is it possible to receive more information on this app?

A: Yes. Information relating to the app will be released at a later date.

9. Would it be possible to get a 3-day extension?

A: See revised RFI for revised response due date.

10. Will the Government publish the questions and answers before the RFI response is due?

A: See revised RFI.

11. Our zipped submission file size will probably be between 15 – 20 MB. Does that present a problem for your email capacity?

A: Please attempt to submit as one file. If you receive a bounce back, please submit as multiple submissions.
