Questions and answers Solicitation 70LGLY23QSSB00162 - Installation of Emergency Phones.

1. The scope (section 2.) talks about OSP fiber and copper but nowhere else on the solicitation does it speak of OSP cable or fiber optic cabling. Does this solicitation apply Tasks 1 & 2 only?

a. This is a generic statement that is on most cabling PR.

2. Can you please provide the building spreadsheet for the phone locations referenced in solicitation document 23NET0090 SOW Purchase and Install Phones Charleston Dorms?

3. Is there current a pathway and outlet where the phones will be installed, or will we be installing conduit or raceway and outlets?

a. contractors are responsible for installing everything.

4. If conduit or raceway is to be ran, will there be a need to penetrate walls?

a. Yes wall penetration may be necessary.

5. If so, what material are the walls made of?

a. the dorm are cinderblock /concrete exterior and drywall interior walls.

6. Where on the diagrams are the TRs in which the cable will be terminated and what are the estimated lengths of these pulls?

a. The cable runs will be up to 280 ‘

7. Question: Regarding the above RFP, would you accept a bid for the installation of phones without running any cable? We provide a cellular emergency phones and First Net as an option.

a. Answer: NO

8. Question: Will the contractor determine the locations for emergency phones or has government already pre- determined?

a. Answer: When I spoke to my on-site visitor yesterday he said the building 39 diagrams were marked but the 28 ones were not. Logically, in the 28 buildings there are 3 per floor, there would be one at each end and one in the center of each hallway of each floor.

9. Questions:Please confirm the total quantities.

a. SOW Section 4.1 (Task 1, Material) indicates there should be sixty (60) telephones with associated cabling, faceplates and outlets whereas SOW Section 4.2 (Task 2, Installation) indicates there should be forty (40) telephones with associated cabling, faceplates and outlets.

b. Are the patch panels in the IT closets existing or Contractor-furnished? If existing:

c. Are the modular and empty, modular and populated or 110-style (with backplane)?

d. Please provide the make, model and type so Contractor can ensure compatibility with our proposed information outlets.

e. Please identify the location of each IT closet.

f. Is there existing pathway (such as cable tray or j-hooks) to support the new cabling?

g. Is the new cabling passing through any plenum spaces (requiring plenum-rated cabling) or is riser-rated cabling acceptable?

h. Is Contractor responsible for providing or installing patch cords at in the IT closet?

i. Should Contractor also provide a wall-mount bracket for each phone (sold separately)?

1. Answers:

1.There is no fiber required in the solicitation. There are no other tasks other than 1&2.
2.My understanding is that the maps shown in the solicitation already showed locations for building 39. For 28-4 and 28-5 the location will be next to the marking for the existing location map.
3.Both buildings have drop ceilings throughout. There are pathways from the network closets into the hallways and between floors. The network cables can run the length of the hallways above the drop ceilings with no additional conduits or raceways.
a.See above.
b.In building 28, the walls are cement and cement block, so from the drop ceiling down to the phone a raceway will be required. Building 39 is a more modern building and has drywall so the network cables can be run within the walls.
4.In building 28 wing 4 the network closet is room 219 on the second floor. In building 28 wing 5 the network closet is in the room marked maintenance. Building 39 has a total of 10 network closets. On the 1st floor of 39, the rooms mark T101 and T102 are the network closet and each floor above the closets are in the same location.

• The RFQ requests sixty (60) Cat6 keystones and faceplates, but only lists forty (40) Cat6 drops split between Buildings 28 and 39. Are those extra twenty (20) for spares?

. 40 is the correct number.

• I assume that the reference to Building 95 on line 4.2.2.1. is a typo and should instead reference Building 39.

Correct, it is building 39.

• Do the patch panels for each building have pre-loaded Cat6 connectors or do we need to provide keystones for those panels?

In 28 the vendor will provide the patch panels in 2 network closets. Building 39 has enough unused keystones in each of the 10 network closets to support the 2-3 needed.

• What is the ceiling height for each floor?

Standard height to the drop ceiling in building 28 is 96” and in 39 it is 102”
