STATEMENT OF WORK

PARKING LOT REPAIR

DR-4404-MP

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: All work shall be in conformance with the requirements as detailed in this Statement of Work (SOW). The Contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, tools, equipment, transportation, management, supervision, and other services necessary for the successful completion of this project. This work will be for the removal, disposal, and replacement of asphalt areas and existing traffic markings on the asphalt parking lot at fire station 4, Koblerville, Saipan.

There are multiple areas that require the removal of damaged asphalt areas, which will be replaced with hot asphalt and compacted as necessary to conform to existing paved surface. It is estimated that approximately 13,370 sq. ft. of existing asphalt needs to be removed and replaced.

PREPARATION: The Contractor shall assess all areas that require hot asphalt repair and replacement.

The Contractor shall ensure the bituminous concrete pavement mixture used is in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standard specifications.

The Contractor shall remove existing asphalt pavement and if necessary leveling base material.

The Contractor shall neatly, and cleanly saw cut existing asphalt surfaces to be removed prior to removal.

Saw cuts shall be a minimum of two inches (2”) deep and shall be straight and parallel.

The Contractor shall ensure that the surface to be repaired is clean of all dust, dirt, and other loose material with and hand brooms, compressed air, or mechanical sweepers prior to the application of primer and tack coat.

The Contractor shall ensure that large repairs are sloped with existing pavement surface to allow for proper rainwater runoff and drainage.

The Contractor shall ensure proper compaction of the subgrade. If proper compaction cannot be achieved, it may be necessary to remove and replace some of the soil or use an aggregate subbase.

The Contractor shall ensure asphalt is placed at a depth of 3” and compacted to proper compaction levels.

Large areas should be compacted using steel wheeled roller. Small areas inaccessible to roller shall be tamped to produce a compression and surface texture equivalent to that produced by large compaction equipment.

The Contractor shall replace all traffic markings that were removed due to asphalt repairs, using the same dimensions and paint color used throughout the parking lot area.

WEATHER LIMITATIONS: Bituminous material shall not be placed during rainy weather, or when moisture on the surface to be treated would prevent satisfactory bond, or when the air temperature is less than fifty degrees Fahrenheit.

HEATING AND APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIAL: The bituminous material shall always be heated in such a manner as to insure even heating of the entire mass with an efficient and positive control. It shall be applied at a temperature between 130- and 180- degrees Fahrenheit.
