Statement of Work

Roadway Repair – Roosevelt Roads Naval Facility – Ceiba, Puerto Rico

Gate #3 Entrance:

Contractor to provide all labor, equipment, and material necessary to remove all existing pavers and subsurface material from the boxed area inside Gate #3

– excavate the area to a minimum depth of 24 inches.

– Back fill the cleared area with subbase material and compact to 95% to a depth of 12 inches.

– Install double #5 rebar in a standard 24 Inch centerline grid pattern with wire mesh overlay – at the appropriate depths (approximately 8 x 24 Feet)

– Place appropriate tensile strength (5000 PSI Mix) Concrete Slab

– Finished surface should have a slight crown or sloped to ensure water runs off the road surface

Contractor to provide all labor, equipment, and material necessary to remove all existing asphalt and subsurface material from an area the area outside Gate #3 (the exact same width and approximately 12 feet in length).

– excavate the area to a minimum depth of 24 inches

– Back fill the cleared area with subbase material and compact to 95% to a depth of 12 inches.

– Install double #5 rebar in a standard 24 Inch centerline grid pattern with wire mesh overlay – at the appropriate depths. (Approximately 8 x 15 Feet)

– Place appropriate tensile strength (5000 PSI Mix) Concrete Slab

– Finished surface should have a slight crown or sloped to ensure water runs off the road surface

The Preferred solution would to place a single continues slab both inside and outside the gate if possible. If not the slabs should be tied together with dowels or rebar.

Butt joints are required were old asphalt or concrete meets new asphalt pavement. These transitional areas require special attention to ensure that the grading and water run-off is appropriate. Butt joints are important to ensure drivers and pedestrians don’t notice a difference in the surfaces.

Pothole Patching:

Contractor to provide all labor, equipment, and material necessary to repair 13 potholes.

– remove/cut existing asphalt and remove subsurface material from an area 6 to 12 inches greater that the pot hole (squared off).

– Replace subsurface base material and compact to 95% to within 4 inches of grade level of the existing street level.

– apply a Bittrmus layer for binding subsurface material to the new asphalt.

– A 4 inch thick patch of new asphalt will be applied and rolled to ensure proper compaction

– Patches edges will have a sealer applied to ensure proper binding to the existing asphalt.

Contractor is responsible for blocking off the area during construction/repairs – and removing signage and barriers once the slabs have cured. Contractor is also responsible for the removal and proper disposition of all excavated material and debris from the project site.
