About this file

This is a Proposed Sole Source Purchase Form submitted by the University of New Mexico (UNM) Purchasing Department for medical equipment procurement under New Mexico Procurement law. The request, submitted on July 29, 2026, by Sarah Pietryga, CST/Service Coordinator in the Pediatric OR department, seeks to procure disposable scopes with working channels and reusable viewing screens from Bryan Medical. The product is specifically needed for small pediatric patients undergoing airway surgery, as it is the only scope available that is small enough to fit through a 3.0 ET tube while providing a clear picture and functional working port. The proposed contract term is three years with renewals consistent with New Mexico Procurement Code requirements. No specific quantities, response dates, site visits, or bidders' meetings are detailed in the document.

The total contract amount is $103,680, with Bryan Medical located at 6100 Wooster Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227, identified as the sole proposed vendor. The sole source justification is based on the proprietary nature of the product (model BR-M25 MS-8), as no other vendor offers a scope meeting the specified requirements of being sufficiently small with both a clear viewing capability and a working channel. Due diligence for locating alternative sources included extensive web searches, though no other specific vendors were contacted or identified as unable to meet the requirements. The form was approved and electronically signed by Jeffrey Gilmore on July 29, 2026, and will be posted on the UNM Sunshine Portal and the State of New Mexico Procurement website for a 30-day public review period prior to purchase authorization.
