PSNS Specifications
6ft x 6ft Aluminum Stackable Storage Box
General:
Dimensional tolerances shall be:
All dimensions +/ 1/8”
Angular:
+/- 1 Deg.
Holes:
1/16” for holes less than or equal to ½” 1/8” for holes greater than ½”
Material notes:
All tube is 6061-T6 All plate material 5086 or 6061 All side plate is 3/16” Aluminum All floor plate is minimum ¼” diamond plate aluminum
Safety:
Break all sharp edges and corners Remove all burrs
Design Loads:
Walking Deck uniform live load limit is 40 PSF.
Load capacity of the storage rack is 1,500lbs.
Ramp point load is 300lbs +/- 10lbs.
Welding and NDT Requirements:
All structural joints shall be welded to a minimum size of 3/16” Fillet/Bevel weld.
Splice joints with backing strips may be added to facilitate fabrication and assembly.
Welding:
All welding shall be IAW AWS D1.2 Weld filler shall be 5356 on all joints.
All welds shall be VT prior and post testing.
Lifting Requirements:
Lift one storage box at a time, each storage box can be lifted when fully loaded.
Lifting eyes:
Lifting eyes designed so that two lifting eyes shall carry total weight of the storage box. (Total weight of box + Working load) x 200% 60 degree angle minimum from the horizontal shall be maintained after rigging gear is fully installed.
The storage box shall be rigged from 4 lifting eyes to a single point.
Shackle sizing:
Maximum 1” shackle, 1-1/8” pin in lifting eyes Minimum 5/8” shackle, ¾” pin in lifting eyes.
Forklift Requirements:
Lift using provided forklift pockets.
Use a minimum of 4’ forks.
See forklift pocket design.
Stacking Notes:
Units can be stacked up to (4) storage boxes high.
Lashing required when units are stacked (3) or higher.
Provide suitable bearing under units.
Testing Requirements:
Static load testing prior to acceptance.
Each storage box shall be static load tested. Loading shall be two times the total weight of the storage box and working load limit with the storage box supported at each end and under the feet once the load is fully applied, The test weight shall remain on the storage box for a minimum of 10 minutes.
Lift points testing prior to acceptance:
Each storage box shall be lift tested, loaded with two times the total weight of the storage box and the working load limit with the storage box supported at the picking eyes.
Test with load limit for a minimum of 10 minutes.
Contractor shall provide test documentation results to PSNS.
Marking Requirements:
The completed storage box shall be weighed on a scale.
Data/Test plate shall be fixed on both sides of the storage box in an easily readable location.
Data/Test Plate Requirements:
Must be stamped with the following info.
6’ x 6’ Storage Box Box weight: (to be determined at time of manufacture) Max Load: 1,500lbs Box may be lifted fully loaded Do not lift multiple boxes in stacked condition.
Sling angle shall be 60 degrees from horizontal or better.
Marking method shall be easy to read and not easily worn off
“Lift Point” shall be stenciled in RED at each lift point.
