About this file
This document is a Fuel Analysis Report for the vessel GOLDEN BEAR (8834407) dated May 29, 2024. The report indicates that based on the sample tested, the fuel specification is met but operational difficulties may be experienced due to the FAME content. Recommendations are provided to minimize risks related to the FAME content, including removing any free water from the fuel tanks and frequently monitoring the fuel quality during long-term storage.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the routine drydocking and repair of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD) Fleet Service (FS)-65 MARY ANN, as identified in the attached Statement of Work (SOW). The solicitation number is 6991PE24Q000009 and the opportunity type is a Solicitation.

Operational Advice
FAME FAME may influence the cold flow properties and the affinity to water and thereby increasing the risk of microbial growth. Long term storage issues and material deposition on exposed surfaces may also be affected. In order to minimize the risk, it is important that the fuel is kept free from water, that any free water is removed from the tank bottoms and that tank drains and all filters in use are checked daily. When the fuel is stored for a prolonged period of time, e.g. more than 4-6 months, it is recommended to frequently monitor the fuel quality in the storage tanks.
