About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity 6982AF26Q000005 for the NM BL CRUC 4101(1) Aguirre Spring Road project, dated 3/16/2026. The document addresses inquiries received on 3/10/26 regarding equipment specifications for drilling operations on this project.
The single question posed concerns the feasibility of using a Geoprobe 7822DT track vehicle as an alternative to a truck-mounted drilling rig. The contracting officer rejected this proposal, clarifying that the project requires a truck-mounted auger rig because drilling is limited to the roadway surface with the primary objective of collecting subsurface soil samples. The response emphasizes that a truck-mounted rig is more operationally efficient than a track vehicle given that boring locations are spaced approximately one-third mile apart, making the greater mobility of a truck configuration preferable for this application.

1. Would you consider using a Geoprobe
7822DT rather than a truck mounted rig?
1. No.
For this project the drilling is limited to the roadway surface and the main goal of the drilling is to collect subsurface soil samples so an auger is preferred also the distance between boring locations are about 1/3 mile apart so a truck is more efficient than a track vehicle.
