RFI Responses

1. Can you clarify if the Superintendent, SSHO and QC Manager need to be 3 separate individuals? Or if 1 person can perform all 3 roles?

Response: Due to the magnitude and complexity of this project, the Government prefers that the superintendent is dedicated to fulfill a single role.

2. RFO states after the NTP we have 90 days to complete. Specs say 150. Is that going to be enough time for a full Fire Life Safety replacement?

Response: The period of performance for this project is changed to 270 calendar days after issuance of Notice to Proceed.

3. Per Spec 01 00 00-7 states weekly updated drawings, what does this refer to?

Response: Redline drawings shall be updated weekly.

4. Per Spec Section 1.5.G.3, we need clarification on D&E.

Response: Clarification on 01 00 00 Section 1.5 Subsection G. 3. (d. and e.):

Response: Location of nitrogen generator will be selected on site based on sizing, SSC choice, and available space on site. Contractor is to first submit sizing calculations for approval. Current suggested location is recommended to be behind the door to Shop Room SJ3 at Subjunction Level, or on the wall next to the door before entering Shop Room SJ3. Suggested locations are marked with a box on the image below.

16. In Specification 28 31 00, Section 2.2, Subsection 10 reads “Provide positive status indication (fully open and fully closed) of damper positions. Status shall be sensed by use of damper limit switches, or some other approved method.” Is this status to be displayed at the Fire Alarm Control Panel only? If not, is a graphical display required for this status?

Response: Status of fully open and closed should be displayed at the Fire Alarm Control Panel. Drawing F051 shows a diagram of the display expected for this function. Reuse existing graphical displays.

17. In Specification 28 31 00, Section 2.2, Subsection 12 reads “Provide diagrams and graphic representations of the smoke control system. Diagrams to be permanently mounted adjacent to the fire alarm system control unit”. The current smoke control graphical interface only shows Manual Alarm Activation, Automatic Fire Detection, Waterflow, Standpipe Valve Tamper and Air Handling Duct Detector and at the walkthrough we were instructed to re-use the existing annunciator. Will this be acceptable or is a new graphic annunciator required for smoke control in the tower?

a. Specification also states this graphic annunciator is to be located at the FACP.

Currently this annunciator and smoke control operation is located on the ground floor of the tower. Does this annunciator need to be moved?
