The ARTCC Power Service Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project consists of replacement or three (3) single zone central station air handling units in the second floor mechanical room of the Power Service Building. Scope includes air handling units, ductwork, electrical installation, controls and other appurtenances required for the installation of a complete operational system. Work shall be scheduled such that AHU- 510 or -515 shall not be inoperable at the same time. Fully complete the installation of one unit before the second unit is taken off-line.

B. Type of Contract.

1. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract.

SUMMARY 01 10 00 - 2

1.4 ACCESS TO SITE

A. General: Contractor shall have limited use of Project site for construction operations as indicated on Drawings by the Contract limits and as indicated by requirements of this Section.

B. Use of Site: Limit use of Project site to areas within the Contract limits indicated. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated.

1. Limits: Limit site disturbance, including earthwork and clearing of vegetation, to 40 feet beyond building perimeter; 10 feet beyond surface walkways, patios, surface parking, and utilities less than 12 inches in diameter; 15 feet beyond primary roadway curbs and main utility branch trenches; and 25 feet beyond constructed areas with permeable surfaces (such as pervious paving areas, storm water retention facilities, and playing fields) that require additional staging areas in order to limit compaction in the constructed area.

2. Driveways, Walkways and Entrances: Keep driveways loading areas, and entrances serving premises clear and available to FAA, FAA's employees, and emergency vehicles at all times. Do not use these areas for parking or storage of materials.

a. Schedule deliveries to minimize use of driveways and entrances by construction operations.

b. Schedule deliveries to minimize space and time requirements for storage of materials and equipment on-site.

C. Condition of Existing Building: Maintain portions of existing building affected by construction operations in a weather tight condition throughout construction period. Repair damage caused by construction operations.

1.5 COORDINATION WITH OCCUPANTS

A. FAA Occupancy: FAA will occupy site and temporary portable building during entire construction period. Other Contractor Acceptance Inspections will be conducted prior to partial FAA occupancies. A final inspection, called Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAI), to determine FAA acceptance of the total Work, will then be conducted.

B. The Contractor shall warranty material and equipment furnished by the various manufacturers in writing for period of two (2) years (or not less than the industry standard for the material speci-fied, nor the manufacturer’s standard warranty period, whichever is greater) on building systems, finishes or equipment from the date of final project acceptance by the FAA. Mechanical equip-ment in particular (HVAC equipment and fire protection equipment,) shall be warranted in writ-

1.2 DEFINITIONS

A. Activity: A discrete part of a project that can be identified for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling the construction project. Activities included in a construction schedule consume time and resources.

1. Critical activities are activities on the critical path. They must start and finish on the planned early start and finish times.

2. Predecessor activity is an activity that must be completed before a given activity can be started.

B. CPM: Critical path method, which is a method of planning and scheduling a construction project where activities are arranged based on activity relationships. Network calculations determine when activities can be performed and the critical path of the project.

C. Critical Path: The longest continuous chain of activities through the network schedule that establishes the minimum overall project duration and contains no float.

D. Event: The starting or ending point of an activity.

E. Float: The measure of leeway in starting and completing an activity.

1. Float time is not for the exclusive use or benefit of either FAA or Contractor, but is a jointly owned, expiring project resource available to both parties as needed to meet schedule milestones and Contract completion date.

2. Free float is the amount of time an activity can be delayed without adversely affecting the early start of the following activity.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS DOCUMENTATION 01 32 00 - 2

3. Total float is the measure of leeway in starting or completing an activity without adversely affecting the planned project completion date.

F. Fragnet: A partial or fragmentary network that breaks down activities into smaller activities for greater detail.

G. Major Area: A story of construction, a separate building, or a similar significant construction element.

H. Milestone: A key or critical point in time for reference or measurement.

I. Network Diagram: A graphic diagram of a network schedule, showing activities and activity relationships.
