SCOPE OF WORK AND QUANTIITES

PEIDMONT TRIAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (GSO)

GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA

Duct Bank Construction, Inner Duct Installation and Cable Installation

General Scope of Work.

Construct the fiber cable paths shown on Drawing Series GSO-D-1798021, Sheets R001 to R012. The first path, designated as Segment 1 begins at a manhole in the existing ductbank on the east side off IDB LOC, follows Taxiway H and Taxiway A and ends at the new GSO ASR site. The second path, designated as Segment 2 shall start at the GSO ASR and end at the GSO RTR. Segment 3 shall start on the east side of the RT shelter, follow Taxiway J and then extend north to the GSO ATCT.

The new ductbank shall consist of 2 each 4” ducts along the entire length. The duct shall be concrete encased PVC or bored High Density Polyethylene conduit (HDPE). The top of the ducts shall be installed as shown on the duct profile drawings with a minimum of 33” below grade. Contractor shall install 3 each – 1 1/4” corrugated inner ducts (the inner ducts shall be three different colors) in each 4” duct. Contractor shall also install the fiber optic cable; conduct termination or testing where indicated on the drawings. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment and materials to install the duct, inner duct, fiber optic cable, manholes and all other appurtenances as described herein or indicated on the drawings.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Work includes, but is not limited to, the following requirements:

1. Perform the project described in this document on a lump sum contract basis for providing the FAA with a field cable infrastructure installation at the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) Greensboro, North Carolina. Conform to the requirements set forth in the attached FAA- STD-019e, and FAA-C-1217f, as applicable.

2. Coordinate work with PTI to prepare and submit for approval a Construction Safety and Phasing

Plan (CSPP).

3. Provide all labor resources to construct, install, terminate, and test the proposed cable infrastructure.

4. Provide all equipment and materials specified in this document for the proposed cable infrastructure.

5. Provide all construction and installation tools and test equipment for installing and testing the proposed cable infrastructure.

6. Contractor installation must include at least one (1) year of manufacturer warranty and technical support. The warranty period shall begin after FAA acceptance of the installed infrastructure.

MARCH 14, 2018 Page | 2

7. Construction, installation, and testing of the proposed cable infrastructure must be completed 150 days after the Notice to Proceed.

8. Provide drawings and/or material description for the proposed cable infrastructure installation, as appropriate, for FAA approval. The document shall include details on routing, duct and boring section, duct and boring profiles and cable termination, etc. New equipment, such as cables, connections, etc. shall conform to those already in existence on site.

9. At the end of the project, demonstrate that the newly installed cable infrastructure is fully functional, and the end-to-end connectivity between existing LOC and the ASR & the ASR to the ATCT is fully functional.

10. Deliver to the FAA three copies of as-built Record Drawings of all equipment and field cable installations. Provide dimensions, where necessary, to locate underground installation from a reference point determined by the Resident Engineer. Drawings shall also be delivered in electronic format. Acceptable electronic drawing formats, in order of preference, are AutoCAD, Microstation, or DXF.

11. Deliver to the FAA three physical and 1 electronic set of all test results required for commissioning of FOTS including but not limited to light source/power meter readings, and OTDR shots.

MARCH 14, 2018 Page | 3

FIBER OPTIC CABLE INFRASTRUCTURE INSTALLATION:

1. Construct a new 2x4” duct bank from IDB LOC to the new GSO ASR for FOTS cabling.

(Segment 1)

2. Construct a new 2x4” duct bank from the new GSO ASR to the RT shelter for FOTS cabling.

(Segment 2)

3. Construct a new 2x4” duct bank from the RT shelter to the GSO ATCT for FOTS cabling.

(Segment 3)

4. Provide and install three (3) 1¼” corrugated innerducts in each new FOTS conduit.

5. Install manholes at the locations shown in Drawing Series GSO-D-1798021, Sheets R001 to R014.

Coordinate with FAA and PTI to determine the actual type of cable vault required. The current estimate is 9 traffic rated manholes and 26 aircraft rated manholes.

6. Configure the duct slope to be to ensure proper drainage towards the manholes.

MARCH 14, 2018 Page | 4

FIBER CABLE INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Provide new fiber cables in continuous run between the IDB LOC & GSO ASR , GSO ASR & GSO RTR and the GSO RTR & GSO ATCT.

2. Provide and install single mode twenty-four (24) strand fiber cables from the LOC to ASR. The use of dielectric cables is a FOTS standard and Gel-free cables are required for outdoor and indoor use.

3. Provide and install single mode twenty-four (24) strand fiber cables from the ASR to RT. The use of dielectric cables is a FOTS standard and Gel-free cables are required for outdoor and indoor use.

4. Provide and install single mode twenty-four (24) strand fiber cables from the RR to ATCT. The use of dielectric cables is a FOTS standard and Gel-free cables are required for outdoor and indoor use.

5. Provide and install ST connectors for the termination of all strands of fiber cables

The following method is acceptable:

Fusion splice with color coded pigtail

The following methods are not permitted:

Fan out kit with ST connector and hand polishing Fusion splice-on-connector (with ST connector) Mechanical splicing Fusion splicing in the connector

6. At the IDB LOC, install a new wall mounted termination / splice cabinet per Specification 2.8 in the and terminate the cables. At the ASR, install a new wall mounted termination / splice cabinet per Specification 2.8 and terminate the cables. At the RT, the FAA will install 2 new racks.

Install a new termination / splice cabinet per Specification 2.8 in the racks. Terminate the cables in the racks and install splice-on connector pigtails per Specification 2.9.

7. All fiber will be tested using an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and light source/power meter.
