EXHIBIT “A” to Solicitation for Offer (SFO) for the San Jose, ID FSDO Office Space Date: June 15, 2020
RETS: WP10867 – SAN JOSE
San Jose, California Flight Standards District Office (FSDO)
Overview & general information for the San Jose FSDO office The FAA San Jose FSDO provides regulatory oversight and public service to the general aviation community as well as to small commercial aviation operators and agencies primarily located in Northern California. The office and the flying community benefits from the San Jose FSDO being located near the San Jose airport as we do business with the general flying public, pilots, mechanics , aviation related individuals and businesses.
Our Aviation Inspectors perform a wide variety of aviation related duties. Some important duties include the investigation of aviation accidents, incidents, and complaints. They provide the surveillance of approximately 90 certificated air operators/agencies, and the certification of new entrant operators and agencies. They meet with the general public, pilots and mechanics, often at the San Jose FSDO, assisting them with questions, licensing and applications for ratings. Inspectors may be working at any time during the day or night; the FAA will require access to the office 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
Due to the public nature of the aviation business, the office needs to be in a secure area, with plenty of parking.
Due to security regulations, the parking lot and the exits from the building need to be well lit and secure; allow clear surveillance of the office’s main entrance by camera. In addition, the public entry vestibule and meeting conference rooms must be separate from the rest of the office. In addition, the FAA demised office space must be separated from other tenants and common areas by true floor to ceiling walls (slab-to-slab).
