RFQ 69056720Q000004
Q: In the SOW for this solicitation it says that the two 35 foot borings (geotechnical) need to be completed using a drill rig that is six feet wide or less.
Our drill rig is 7 feet wide. Does this eliminate our ability to complete these/is there a reason for 6 feet? – Received Oct 14, 2019.
A: The reason for a 6’ drill rig is because one of the two geotechnical borings is at an especially tight spot with width of only about 17.7’ from the base of a rock cut to the crest of the slope with no ditch. The road experiences very light traffic that time of year but the need for a recreational vehicle to pass might exist. A 6’ rig would be the max to provide adequate room for traffic passage and to provide a safe work buffer. If an offeror with a rig larger than 6’ wants to quote they would have to provide a drawing or plans identifying how they intend to accommodate any traffic around their rig. The offeror must identify the size of their drill rig and submit the traffic control plan or drawing with their quote. The approval of the traffic plan and subsequent approval of the larger drill rig will be at the discretion of the Government. If the traffic plan is not approved, the quote will not be accepted. Any additional expense related to using a larger drill rig will not be passed onto the Government.
