Roosevelt Lodge Parking Lot
# General Technical Question Answer Date

Reviewing the Utility/Junction box locations on plan sheet K.3, and the paving sections, it appears that both Utility/Junction boxes shown on K.3 at the radius may be subject to traffic loads. Not just the one called out in the note to “replace existing electrical utility box with new traffic rated utility box.” We would recommend both of the new Utility/Junction boxes be H20 Traffic Rated. Owners thoughts?
See Utility Junction Box Installation Detail on Sheet K.7, which shows all junction boxes are to be traffic rated.

Unable to find any “traffic rated precast polymer concrete pull box with traffic rated bolt down lid”. From what I have found precast polymer concrete pull boxes come in three tiers.
Tier 8 (8,000lbs), Tier 15 (15,000lbs), and Tier 20/22 (20‐22,000LBS). This is what we typically would use in and behind sidewalks for DOT projects we routinely construct.
According to manufacturers I have researched, a true Traffic Rated pull box and cover would require H20 (20Tons) rating for direct continuous traffic loads.
Is the reference to polymer composite concrete in the Utility/Junction box on K.7 an error?
If so please specify the load rating required for a concrete utility/junction box and if the steel covers should be black or galvanized.

Check General or Technical
3 X Are both pull boxes located on K2 and K3 for electric only?
Yes. 7/20/2020
4 X Are both pull boxes located on K2 and K3 to be tied together?
See Amendment A002. 7/20/2020

Does FHA/YNP want two 1 ½” conduits from the Lodge to the end of the run? One for power and one for communications terminating in separate pull boxes? If this is the case the quantity of 1 ½” Sch. 80 PVC will need to be doubled.
No, the plans show power junction boxes and single conduit runs for power on Sheets K.2‐3.

6 X What separation distance between the conduits in the trench would be required?
There is no separation distance because the power conduit runs shown on Sheets K.2‐3 are single conduit runs.

I noticed on sheet E.14 of the plans a call out for Curb,Log (Cast Concrete). There is no bid item or detail for this, I assume it is to be Pressure treated Log as it is on other pages?
