About this file

This is a Material Ordering Data sheet for fasteners conforming to MIL-DTL-1222J specification. The document specifies requirements for procuring hexagonal nuts with enhanced reliability standards suitable for demanding military and aerospace applications.

The specified fastener is part number M1222N1X18C20NBNN, configured as a plain hexagon nut, Type-I, Grade 405 (ASTM F467) in as-formed or stress-relieved condition. The nut is sized at 1-1/8" diameter with 7 UNC-2B thread series and class 2B fit. The bearing surface must be either washer-faced or chamfered, with cut or ground threads permitted. No self-locking element is required. Material Grade 400 is also acceptable as noted in additional data requirements. The fasteners are intended for general, high-temperature, high-strength, and corrosive environment applications including elevated temperatures, salt air/marine environments, immersion in seawater, high preloads, and high shock loadings where a high degree of reliability is required. Chemical analysis and mechanical property test results must be provided by the vendor; examination tests, decarburization tests, and magnetic permeability tests are not required. All unit intermediate and shipping containers must be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129 per DLA Procurement Note C20. The document was prepared by Kenny Maldonado, Code 260.2.
