Project Location:

201 West Thomas Street

Milledgeville, GA 31061

Project Overview

The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, permits (if required), and incidentals necessary to demolish and replace the existing deteriorated concrete pad located at the Upper L1 Ramp of Milledgeville Fire Rescue Service Station 1.

Bid #60550-2027-0003 Upper L1 Ramp Repair FS1 Page 6

Because this is an active emergency response facility, the Contractor shall coordinate all work to minimize disruptions to Fire Rescue operations and maintain safe access throughout the duration of the project.

Scope of Work

The Contractor shall perform the following work:

1. Conduct a mandatory pre-bid site visit to inspect existing conditions prior to submitting a price proposal. The Contractor shall verify field dimensions, evaluate the existing pavement and subgrade conditions, and determine whether the proposed concrete section will adequately support the operational loading of the

2. Demolish and remove approximately 40 feet x 40 feet of existing degraded concrete pavement.

3. Properly dispose of all demolished materials in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

4. Protect the existing fire station building, adjacent pavement, utilities, landscaping, and other improvements from damage during demolition and construction. The Contractor shall be responsible for repairing any damage caused by construction activities at no additional cost to the Owner.

5. Excavate and prepare the subgrade to accommodate a 6-inch-thick reinforced concrete slab. The subgrade shall be compacted to industry standards and capable of supporting emergency vehicle traffic.

6. Install reinforcing steel (rebar) and securely dowel/tie the new slab into the existing concrete pavement to provide structural continuity.

7. Install new concrete pavement with a minimum thickness of 6 inches, finished to provide proper drainage and a durable driving surface suitable for heavy emergency apparatus.

8. Provide a smooth, continuous transition between the new concrete pavement and the existing asphalt (blacktop) leading to West Thomas Street. The finished surface shall eliminate abrupt elevation changes that could impact emergency vehicle operations.

9. Saw-cut all joints as required and provide expansion/control joints in accordance with accepted concrete construction practices.

10. Restore disturbed areas to original condition upon completion of the work.

Concrete Requirements

The Contractor shall provide pricing for the following:

• Base Bid: 6-inch reinforced concrete pavement.

• Total calendar days required to complete the work.

• Proposed construction schedule identifying major work activities.

• Estimated concrete curing time before emergency apparatus can safely utilize the new pavement.

• Any anticipated interruptions to station access and proposed mitigation measures.

Work shall be coordinated with Fire Rescue personnel to ensure emergency response capabilities remain operational throughout construction.

Quality Requirements

All materials and workmanship shall comply with the latest editions of applicable local, state, and national codes and standards, including recognized industry standards for concrete pavement construction.
