About this file

This document outlines a fire prevention plan for a federal timber harvesting contract on the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. The plan requires the contractor to maintain spark arrestors on all combustion engine equipment and equip each machine with a round pointed shovel and a five pound fire extinguisher. All chainsaw operators must have access to a shovel and one pound extinguisher as well. The contractor must furnish additional firefighting tools as specified in their fire prevention and control plan, and identify the number of employees and equipment available for fire response. The plan lists precautions that will be enforced from April 1 to October 31 and requires the contractor's signature acknowledging the fire prevention requirements.
