- PROJECT SCOPE -
GENERAL:
4. VA North Texas Health Care System intends to issue a construction contract for work at the Veterans
Resource Center. The project consists of:
a. The Contractor shall provide all labor, material, equipment, and supervision required to site work and installation of a new parking lot adjacent to the existing Veterans Resource Center. Parking lot will consist of earthwork and demolition of the existing site, new paving and security fencing, exterior lighting, exterior security cameras, and required sidewalks.
b. The Contractor shall provide all labor, material, equipment, and supervision required to upgrade the main distribution panel to address deficiencies found with the existing building power system as well as increased capacity to support the electrical requirements for the new adjacent parking lot.
SPECIFICS:
5. CIVIL:
The civil scope will consist of clearing and grading of the property adjacent to the Veterans Resource Center. New paving will be installed to provide the new parking lot area. Footings for exterior lighting will also be installed. Storm sewer lines will be adjusted and/or relocated as required to accommodate the new configuration. Security fencing will be provided along the parking lot perimeter, and will include motorized access gates, lights, and security cameras. Man access route will be provided to connect the Veterans Resource Center campus with the new parking lot. Parking lot finishes will include pavement striping and installation of bus shelters within the fenced perimeter.
ARCHITECTURE:
Not Applicable
STRUCTURAL:
MECHANICAL:
The mechanical scope is limited to the installation of mechanical operators for the high-security gates installed at the entrances for the new parking area.
PLUMBING:
ELECTRICAL:
The electrical scope shall consist of demolition of the existing main switchboard for the Veterans Resource Center and replacement with a new electrical service entrance. A new exterior power panel (fed via a new underground conduit from the new switchboard) will be provided in the parking lot area to supply exterior pole lighting, motorized gate access, and security cameras for the new parking lot provided under this scope. Temporary power will be provided from a temporary exterior switchboard to minimize downtime between demolishing the existing switchboard and installing a new one in its place. A new temporary underground feeder will be installed from the temporary switchboard to the existing pole mounted utility transformer. All existing electrical circuits will be transferred from the existing switchboard to the temporary switchboard. The existing switchboard will be demolished, and then the new switchboard will be installed in its place. A new permanent underground feeder will be installed from the new switchboard to the existing pole mounted utility transformer. The existing electrical circuits will then be transferred from the temporary switchboard to the new switchboard. The temporary switchboard can then be demolished along with the temporary underground feeder.
It was also determined the distribution panels downstream of the main switchboard will be replaced one for one with new panels. This can happen during the installation of the new switchboard, or after, as the facility sees fit.
