About this file

This document details the salient characteristics and specifications for the ForceTec FTTS-F16483-FK-USAF military-grade tool kit, a comprehensive system designed for the United States Air Force to support maintenance, assembly, and repair operations in field, hangar, and depot environments. The toolkit is engineered to work specifically with ForceTec rivetless nutplates used on F-16 airframes and must comply with procedures outlined in T.O. 1F 16CJ 3 1, including nominal, first oversize, and second oversize hole preparation.

The kit must include precision-machined reamers, dedicated drill guides, cold work-compatible mandrels and gauges, deburring tools, nut installation and removal tools, hand puller/wrenches, core drill equipment, and post-work verification gauges—all sized for nominal and oversize fastener holes. All components must be manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with heat treatment, feature corrosion-resistant chrome or oxide finishes per ANSI/ASME B107 standards, and be designed for field-level and depot-level structural repair on metallic and composite substructure. The case is a heavy-duty, impact-resistant molded polymer with reinforced corners, weather sealing, pressure equalization valve for altitude and transport stability, lockable latches, and 180-degree opening hinged lid. Each kit must be uniquely identified for asset tracking, with permanent engraving of the part number FTTS-F16483-FK-USAF and ForceTec branding on the case exterior. The kit includes serialized certification of conformance and inspection records, with approximate dimensions of 24" L × 18" W × 8" H and total weight of 32 lbs.

BE AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE!!!

Text1: General Description:

The ForceTec FTTS-F16483-FK-USAF is a comprehensive, military-grade tool kit designed to support maintenance, assembly, and repair operations in field, hangar, and depot environments. It is purpose-engineered for use by the United States Air Force and adheres to stringent durability and performance standards required for aerospace and defense applications.

1. General Requirements

• Tooling kit must be a complete, ready to use system designed specifically for the installation, removal, and cold working preparation of ForceTec rivetless nutplates used on F 16 airframes.

• All components must be precision manufactured to interface with ForceTec rivetless nutplates and associated fastener holes without modification.

• Kit must be compatible with procedures outlined in T.O. 1F 16CJ 3 1, including nominal, first oversize (1st OS), and second oversize (2nd OS) hole preparation.

• All tools must be designed for field level and depot level structural repair environments, including use on metallic and composite substructure.

• All gauges, mandrels, and reamers must meet dimensional tolerances required for cold work preparation and verification of ForceTec fastener holes.

2. Physical Characteristics The kit must include tooling that meets the following physical attributes:

• Precision machined reamers for nominal, 1st OS, and 2nd OS rivet and fastener holes.

• Dedicated drill guides for nominal, 1st OS, and 2nd OS drilling and reaming operations.

• Cold work compatible mandrels and mandrel gauges sized for nominal, 1st OS, and 2nd OS hole diameters.

• Deburring tools and guides for nominal and oversize fastener hole preparation.

• Nut installation and removal tools specifically designed for ForceTec rivetless nutplates.

• Hand puller/wrench nosecaps for nominal and oversize rivet hole operations.

• Core drill and core drill guide for structural hole restoration.

• Post cold work gauges for verifying final hole dimensions (nominal, 1st OS, 2nd OS).

• Heavy-duty, impact-resistant, molded polymer case with reinforced corners.

• Case features weather sealing for protection against dust, moisture, and corrosion.

• Equipped with pressure equalization valve for altitude and transport stability.

• Lockable latches and hinged lid with 180° opening for easy access.

• Tools manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, heat-treated for maximum durability.

• Corrosion-resistant chrome or oxide finish per ANSI/ASME B107 standards.

• Case exterior in military-approved color (typically matte black or olive drab).

• Each tool marked with a unique identifier for asset tracking.

• Part number FTTS-F16483-FK-USAF and ForceTec branding permanently engraved or labeled on case exterior.

• Includes serialized certification of conformance and inspection record.

• Case Dimensions (Approx.): 24” L × 18” W × 8” H

• Total Kit Weight (Approx.): 32 lbs.

3. Functional Characteristics The tooling kit must provide the following functional capabilities:

• Ability to perform cold work preparation of cracked or fatigued fastener holes prior to ForceTec fastener installation.

• Capability to drill, ream, deburr, gauge, and prepare fastener holes to the exact tolerances required for ForceTec rivetless nutplates.

• Support for removal and replacement of existing ForceTec rivetless nutplates without damaging surrounding structure.

• Compatibility with F 16 structural repair procedures including wing, fuselage, and access panel substructures.

• Repeatable, controlled cold working using matched mandrels, sleeves, and receptacles.

4. Performance Characteristics The kit must meet the following performance requirements:

• Must maintain dimensional accuracy for all reamers, gauges, and mandrels throughout the tool’s service life.

• Must withstand repeated cold work cycles without deformation or loss of tolerance.

• Must allow installation of ForceTec nutplates to manufacturer specified torque, alignment, and hole fit standards.
