About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics specification sheet dated 7 August 2025 for the procurement of six (6) USB 3.1 Gen 1 Docking Stations for Whiteman AFB, Missouri. The required docking stations must be compatible with SAFRAN RSM500-S, DATaRec® 4 MDR Rugged Storage Modules, enabling data transfer to and from Data at Rest Protected (DARP) storage modules via USB to a DoD Standard Desktop Configuration (SDC) compliant Windows 11 workstation.

The specification details precise technical requirements including three specific connection types, USB 3.1 Gen 1 data transfer capabilities of 5 Gbit/s, LED indicators for power and connection status, maximum electrical power consumption of 18W, weight and size limitations, temperature and humidity operating ranges from -20°C to +70°C, and specific electromagnetic compatibility standards. The docking stations must be compatible with various SAFRAN storage module types and meet rigorous environmental and technical specifications suitable for forward operating locations.

SPECIFICATIONS:

A compatible docking station for the SAFRAN RSM500-S, DATaRec® 4 MDR, part number: SHS617-2500, Rugged Storage Module (RSM) that allows accessing these Data at Rest Protected (DARP) storage modules to transfer data to and from the RSM via USB to a typical DoD SDC compliant Windows 11 desktop workstation.

CONNECTIONS: Three connections consisting of one of each of the following types; an internal HSB3 docking connector (100,000 mating cycles), an external USB 3.1 MicroB, and an external DC Power In: 2.0 × 5.5 × 11 mm.

DATA RATE: USB 3.1 Gen 1 compatibility required, i.e. capable of 5 Gbit/s data transfer and 290 MByte/s USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) read speeds.

LED INDICATORS THAT IDENTIFY: 1. power and storage module exists, and an active connection to host system and 2. power and storage module exists, but no connection to host system or host/storage module are in standby/power save mode.

ELECTRICAL POWER CONSUMPTION: Max 18W.

WEIGHT and SIZE: Not to exceed. 460 g. or 150 × 26 x 80 mm (w*h*d) plus or minus 25%.

COMPATIBILITY: Must be compatible with SAFRAN Defense & Space Inc. RSM, DSM, RSM FW, RRM, DRM, and RSM-CF MDR 4 Storage Modules.

TEMPERATURES: Operating: 0°C to +50°C. Storage: -20°C to +70°C to allow for extremes experienced at “bare base” forward operating locations (FOL) and transit from and to FOLs.

HUMIDITY: 0 to 93% relative, noncondensing to allow for extremes experienced at “bare base” forward operating locations (FOL) and transit from and to FOLs.

ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY: Must have the following EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility): IEC DIN EN61000-6-4, IEC DIN EN61000-6-2, IEC DIN EN61000-4-3, and

DIN EN55032.
