YAMAHA OUTBOARD ENGINES

STATEMENT OF NEED

30 January 2024

1. Requirement: Repair/replacement is expensive, and the manufacturer covers warranty cost.

Without an engine warranty, user pays full repair/replacement price. Furthermore, this will drive up engine maintenance cost exponentially. Request two engines to replace these older models.

Current installed Yamaha equipment, wires, throttles, steering system, etc. reduce the cost for the Gov't by installing same brand engines. Changing engine brand will raise cost for the Gov't that will need equipment, wires, throttles, steering system, etc. changed out. This extra cost can be in upwards of $30K.

2. Characteristics: Two 27’ WAC SAFE Boat vessels hull numbers 1957 and 1958. On each vessel, the contractor will replace with new Yamaha 30” LH & RH rotation 300 horsepower twin outboard engine setups.
