About this file
This is a specifications document from the City of Fort Worth Purchasing Division for Invitation to Bid (ITB) Reference Number 26-0056, regarding a one-time purchase of a brine machine, salt supply, and tank for the Transportation and Public Works Department. The City seeks a brine machine capable of continuously producing approximately 6,000 gallons per hour with 100% automated brine production, salt concentration measuring, and salinity control. The machine must feature a stainless steel storage tank with built-in forklift pockets, enclosed corrosion-resistant components, and integrated storage tank level monitoring with data logging and diagnostics. Additionally, the City requires salt supply meeting Texas Department of Transportation Winter Weather Materials Special Specifications 8032, with the material measured by the ton and delivered in a free-flowing usable condition. No specific response dates, due dates, site visits, bidders' meetings, or award dates are provided in this specifications document.
The salt supply specifications detail two types acceptable for this procurement: Type I Road Salt and Type II Brine Salt, both requiring a minimum of 94.5% chlorides by weight (ASTM D 6321) and a maximum of 0.07% sulfate content. Particle size requirements differ slightly between types, with Type I requiring 20% maximum retained on 0.2665 inch sieves and Type II allowing up to 20% maximum on the same sieve size. The procurement is funded through the Community Development Block Grant—Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) as a response to Winter Storm Uri, with allocations provided through Federal Register Notices 87 FR 31636 and 88 FR 3198. The salt supply material must not contain constituents that would result in residual waste meeting the definition of hazardous waste under 40 Code of Federal Regulations 261.
