About this file
This document is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement specification for a construction or outdoor work project. The document mandates comprehensive weather-related safety guidelines for workers, focusing specifically on heat and cold weather conditions. It requires the Prime Contractor to include a detailed Safety Plan with provisions for protecting workers from heat-related and cold-related illnesses, particularly when temperatures reach over 90 degrees (either actual temperature or heat index).
The safety requirement stipulates that during extended periods of adverse weather conditions, the Prime Contractor must provide necessary accommodations for workers. A project-specific Heat Awareness Plan is required when temperatures exceed 90 degrees, which must include provisions for worker acclimatization, access to water, rest periods, and shade. Vendors must acknowledge and agree to follow these heat protection safety requirements by signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of submission, indicating their commitment to implementing these worker safety protocols.
