About this file
This is a Public Notice of Request for Bids cancellation issued by the City of Nicholls, Georgia for asbestos abatement services. The City of Nicholls originally sought qualified contractors licensed by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to conduct pre-demolition asbestos abatement and removal services for damages sustained during Hurricane Helene in September 2024 (Disaster Declaration DR-4830-GA). The RFB was published on December 11, 2025, with a deadline for bid submissions at 2:00 p.m. on December 15, 2025, through the DFS Procurement Services Portal at dfs.bonfirehub.com. A public bid opening was scheduled prior to the Nicholls City Council meeting, with awards anticipated on December 17, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at 7 Van Street Highway, Nicholls, GA 31554. Questions regarding the RFB scope were to be submitted by December 8, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
The RFB has been canceled due to a determination that the structure is structurally unsound, which renders asbestos abatement services unnecessary. As a result of this cancellation, no award will be made, and no contract will be executed. The City expressed appreciation for all vendors who invested time and effort in preparing and submitting proposals in response to this opportunity.
