801 Terrazzo Clean, Repair, & Polish Project Solicitation Questions & Answers

801 I St., Sacramento, CA

Project Manager: Rob Rudd

Solicitation #: 47PK1621R0001

Questions & Answers

Q1: Is there a desired phasing plan?

A1: At least one stairwell must remain open during the project for building occupants to utilize. One idea might be to do one stairwell and one floor at a time allowing the project to be broken up into two phases. As long as one stairwell remains open and people can move about the floors freely, it is the contractors discretion as to how they want to phase the project.

Q2: Will this project be scheduled for after-hours?

A2: Any work that makes excessive noise should be scheduled for after hours (6pm-

6am). The building will be mimimally occupied for the foreseeable future, so noise will be a concern. Any hammering, chipping, griding, sanding, etc. should be done after hours.

Q3: Will power be provided? 220V, 50A?

A3: Contractor will have access to 120V receptacles in the building. There is no 220V power available in the areas requiring the work.

Q4: Will the elevators be available for contractor use?

A4: Yes. There are two personnel elevators but no service elevators. The elevators were shown on the job walk.

Q5: Can contractors use cement patches instead of epoxy?

A5: Yes, cementitious patches are acceptable. Contractors needs to be aware that matching the surrounding terrazzo is critical. GSA’s Region 9 historic team will be an integral part of this project and will be reviewing all mockups and product submittals throughout the process.

Q6: Will the patches in the stairwells behind the insulated pipes that run between the floors be a part of this project?

A6: No. Per the AE survey those patches are to remain in place (See page 10 of specification). These will not be part of the project.

Q7: There is a crack on the 4th floor stairwell landing on the East side of the building.

Will this be part of the project?

A7: Yes. Although not specifically identified in the AE report, this crack should be repaired as the survey has called out repairs of the other cracks in the building. This crack measures approximately 3 feet and looks very similar to the one called out on the

1st/2nd floor landings in the West stairwell.

Q8: There is a large crack on the 4th floor East side hallway floor. Will this be part of the project?

A8: Again, this crack must have been missed during the survey and site visits. This crack measures approximately 3.5-4ft in length and should be repaired as well.

Q9: Will parking be available?

A9: Parking will not be available. Contractors should anticipate parking on the street which is metered by the city.
