RFI61: We are in receipt of the latest RFI responses and are confused with the answer regarding the UPS system. You are stating it is part of the communication system therefore the responsibility of the electrical contractors yet both the electrical drawings and communications spec’s note all communications work is the responsibility of the Elevator Subcontractor and they are to reference the electrical drawings for that part of the work. Wouldn’t the UPS system then be part of the elevator contractors scope of work? Please note that there are no specifications for what type and model number of UPS is to be used so there is no way for an electrical contractor to price this. AM told depending on what system is spec’d this can range anywhere from 3k to 15K +./ Can we get an allowance for this UPS system today? There is no way we can guess at this price and the bid opens tomorrow.
Response61: PART 1: Please see response to RFI 58. PART 2: All communications work is the responsibility of the awarded contractor. The UPS systems are furnished with the Intercommunication package, Spec Section 27512 Para 1.2 Summary, Item #4 and #5. UPS/Battery units are shown on New Elevator Intercommunications Diagram on E-404.00. Passenger Elevator central exchange unit located EMR on the 17th Floor powered by PSDC27-5 Power Supply backed up by BAT24-30 Batteries. UPS for Service Elevators is shown in PH-2. For Passenger Elevators UPS location, refer to 17th Floor Mer- Power drawing E-203.00. For Service Elevator UPS location, refer to PH-2 Power drawing E207.00.
RFI62: We could not know what to provide for the UPS since there is NO specs telling us about the intercom system in regards to the UPS.
Response62:Please see response to RFI 61 PART 2
