Website Statistics For CY2022, the website received 549,873 unique visits. Of those annual visits, an average of 21% came from PPC and 63% came from organic visits. Traditionally, the most popular pages on the website are the following categories: things to do, events, dining, shopping, family fun, and Downtown Chandler.
Staff would like to continue driving quality traffic to the website, increase the average time on site, numbers of pages visited and drive conversions. We are looking for recommendations to accomplish this task including but not limited to utilizing user-generated content.
Target Markets
Business Travel Pre-pandemic, Chandler’s primary traveler was the business traveler, many of whom come into town to work with Chandler companies engaged in technology, innovation, and manufacturing.
While technology and innovation are at the core of Chandler’s business community, there is a good degree of diversity.
Business travelers often come to Chandler for sales calls, meetings, product launches and assorted training. There are also a significant number of international travelers (Ireland, Asia, Germany, Israel, and Canada) who come to Chandler for an extended period for training, generally booking an extended stay for a few weeks to a few months. This is one reason why Chandler has so many extended stay/suite properties.
Most of the Chandler Business Travel (CBT) is comprised of travelers who are coming in for a few nights, tend to stay weeknights, more of a Monday/Tuesday arrival and Thursday/Friday departure, leaving our weekends generally soft, except in season.
Visit Chandler encourages the CBT to extend their stay through the weekend, bring a spouse/significant other and maybe the kids and take in some of the metro Phoenix attractions, explore Downtown Chandler, eat at Chandler restaurants, shop at Chandler Fashion Center and attend a Chandler event or more.
Visit Chandler also targets a remote workforce and temporary workers who come to Chandler for construction projects to encourage them to stay in Chandler.
Meetings and Events Chandler diligently courts small meetings and events by actively partnering with leading third-party planner organizations, reaching out to Chandler businesses who book meetings and events and connecting with planners and event producers who book events in the area.
In addition to hotel spaces, there are several special event venues located in the community that cater to social and corporate events.
Leisure Travel Chandler has a share of leisure travelers, those looking for options for their Arizona vacation that are including a stay in metro-Phoenix. Chandler tends to see most of its visitors from the Pacific Northwest (greater Seattle and greater Portland), Illinois, California, Texas, and Minnesota. Canada and northern Mexico are also recognized as key feeder markets for the community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, leisure travel was dominated by the drive market and included Nevada, New Mexico, and a general increase in statewide visitation.
Typically, most of Chandler’s leisure travelers are looking to stay in the “Phoenix area” with many here to visit friends and family. Advantages to Chandler travelers is the perception of newness, many of the hotels are winning brand awards for guest service/quality assurance scores, most of the hotels regularly renovate and update their properties, offer free parking, ease of access around the City and connectivity to Metro Phoenix. The city is perceived as a safe, clean, family friendly and welcoming community.
Budget The tourism program operates on a fiscal calendar that begins each year on July 1st and ends on June 30th.
Paid search campaigns maximizing yearly ad spend of $30,000.00 - $50,000.00, under the direction of Visit Chandler staff.
For Fiscal year 2022/2023 (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023) the annual budget for PPC media spend is $43,200.
