About this file

This is a specifications document for a Request for Bid (RFB-26-308) issued by the City of Yuma, Arizona Procurement Division for the procurement of fire hydrants and accessories, dated August 2023. The City seeks bidders to supply fire hydrants that meet or exceed American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standard C-502 requirements, featuring a minimum 5-inch diameter main valve opening, two 2-inch hose connections and one 4-inch hose connection with National Standard Threading, and a pentagon-shaped operating nut requiring counter-clockwise rotation. Hydrants must be equipped with a mechanical joint-type connection for C-900 water mains and be available in four burial depth options ranging from 30 to 48 inches. Additionally, the City requires extension kits in 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30-inch lengths and complete repair kits compatible with the supplied hydrant brands.

Fire hydrants must feature yellow coating on the top section and be designed for 250 psi working pressure with hydrostatic testing to 500 psi or better, backed by a three-year manufacturer warranty. Acceptable hydrant models include Clow Medallion, American Flow Control Waterous WB-67 Pacer, Mueller Super Centurion, American AVK Series 2700, and East Jordan Iron Works Watermaster or comparable equivalent models. The specifications indicate that references to specific makes and models are intended to establish minimum quality and performance standards only and are not restrictive, allowing bidders to propose equivalent products from other manufacturers. All extension kits and repair kits must be complete assemblies with all necessary components and must be compatible with the hydrant brand quoted by the bidder.
