About this file

This is a bid specification document for Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, seeking competitive proposals for the design, furnishing, and installation of a new laundry exhaust lint collection system at the Community Reintegration Center located at 8885 S. 68th St., Franklin, WI 53132. The project involves the complete removal of the existing lint filter system and ductwork, followed by the design and installation of a fully integrated, code-compliant lint collection system to support two Braun 123H Dryers with a target system capacity of approximately 20,000 CFM. The scope of work encompasses demolition and removal, system design and performance engineering, equipment installation including structural supports and roof curbs, new ductwork with fire-rated assemblies, utilities connections (compressed air and water), fire protection and life safety integration, roofing modifications, electrical work, structural engineering analysis, control system integration with the existing Johnson Controls Metasys Building Automation System, and comprehensive testing and commissioning. All submittals, including shop drawings, product data sheets, structural calculations, and control system schematics, require Milwaukee County approval prior to fabrication or installation. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all permits, inspections, and coordination with county personnel and other contractors, with site visits strongly recommended prior to bidding. Prospective bidders may request on-site visits by contacting the bid administrator at carsten.peterson@milwaukeecountywi.gov.

The specifications require the contractor to provide a minimum one-year labor warranty along with manufacturer warranties on all equipment, with system performance and code compliance guaranteed. Deliverables include operation and maintenance manuals in both printed and digital formats, as-built drawings documenting final installation details, and an add alternate for full integration with the building fire alarm and fire suppression systems. The contractor must provide a detailed project schedule identifying submittals, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases, with coordination required to minimize disruption to CRC operations, potentially requiring off-hours work. No additional compensation will be provided for field conditions that could have been identified during site inspection, placing responsibility on bidders to thoroughly evaluate existing conditions prior to submitting proposals.
